On Friday, March 22, Stefan Nilsson and Trendgruppen were honoured with the Columbi Ägg (Egg of Columbus) communications award together with the B2B ad agency Edenvik and the engineering and design consultancy firm WSP, for a campaign that combines esthetic beauty and modern social structure. Stefan Nilsson, in the role of fashion supervisor, invited seven fashion designers from the USA, South Africa, Australia, Great Britain, Germany and Sweden. The designers were given a brief about future challanges for growing cities (i.e. water consuption, energy usage, city planning), which they interpreted into fashion collections that were displayed in fashion shows and magazine spreads.

Swedish Kvänum is the market leader in Scandinavia in exclusive, bespoke interiors for kitchens, dressing rooms and bathrooms. The company has won a number of design awards and has been appointed a purveyor to the Royal Swedish Court. Outstanding workmanship of the highest quality distinguishes all of the products from Kvänum. During Stockholm Design Week, Trendgruppen arranged a cocktail party to celebrate the launch of the new kitchen ART, styled by Andrea Engsäll.

During Stockholm Design Week, NK Inredning invited the design industry to celebrate great design. NK Inredning showcased an installation of Patricia Urquiola’s latest
collaboration with Moroso and her new glass series for Baccarat curated by the Patricia Urquiola Studio. Party-goers enjoyed champagne, beautiful food installations created by Mags World and live music entertainment by Sibelle Attar.

During Stockholm Design Week, eight independent Swedish design brands presented their new products at the ‘Show Off’ exhibition at Wetterling Gallery in Kungsträdgården. Participating companies were Scherlin Form, Klong, String, Kateha, A2 Designers, Designed by Jepson, Skargaarden, and Zweed. Their new products were showcased for the International press, Swedish press and at a VIP-event. The exhibition was also open to the general public during design week.

One of the most exciting exhibitions at Stockholm Design Week 2013 was the ‘Magic Windows’ installation by Foscarini. Lamps came to life in a Lars von Trier Dogville-style theatre set, offering an imaginary glimpse of homes and the people within. Behind the beautiful architecture was Italian designer Luca Nichetto. Trendgruppen arranged the grand VIP opening party with invitees including design industry professionals, press, and important architects, among others.

Stockholm Design Week kicked off with a grand design gala at Operaterassen, presenting the winners of the Elle Interiör Design Award 2013. The winner of the Designer of the Year award was Form Us With Love. Guests of honors included the Minister for Enterprise Annie Lööf, the Design Princess Marianne Bernadotte and many international design stars, such as Oki Sato, Patricia Urquiola, Patrizia Moroso, Giovanni Alessi!

Giovanni Alessi presented Alessi’s new designer, Monica Förster, and her ’Tower’ series, a set of five porcelain measuring cups for the kitchen. The matte finish cups are inspired by the shape of old weights, used previously in combination with a scale to measure and weigh ingredients in the kitchen. Functional and versatile, the measuring cups are also attractive containers which can be stacked up or placed inside each other in order to save space.

Cervera launched their new spring/summer collection during a press lunch at the restaurant Adam & Albin in Stockholm. New products from Anders Petter and the new American brand Art and Cook available exclusively at Cervera were showcased in beautiful installations, while journalists enjoyed a delectable lunch and dessert prepared by renowned baker Sebastién Boudet.

For the second year in a row, the Stora Trenddagen was arranged by Trendgruppen at Clarion Sign Hotel in Stockholm. Stefan Nilsson held two seminars sharing insights on up and coming design trends, with participants experiencing the trends firsthand in an exhibition adjacent to the lecture hall.  This years trends are; Sinners and saints (Syndigt och Saligt), Neo modernism (Formbart), Blue Lagoon, Culinary adventures (Kul i Kök) and Urban Farming.
